About Richie Hawtin b2b Dubfire
When two legends of minimal techno share a booth, it is an event unlike any other — and Richie Hawtin b2b Dubfire at 150 NW 73rd St (Lion’s Den) on Wednesday, March 25 is exactly that kind of once-in-a-season moment. These are two of the most revered architects of modern techno, each with decades of influence behind them, coming together for a rare back-to-back performance that represents the intellectual pinnacle of Miami Music Week 2026. The event is called Converge, and the name says it all. More Miami events at HeatTheVibe.com.
Richie Hawtin — born Richard Hawtin in Oxfordshire, England and raised in Windsor, Ontario — is among the most important figures in the entire history of techno. He moved to Detroit in his late teens and was immediately absorbed into the second wave of the city’s techno scene, recording for Plus 8 Records (which he co-founded with John Acquaviva in May 1990) and developing an intensely forward-thinking approach to production and performance. His alias Plastikman became synonymous with a stripped-down, acid-driven minimal sound that challenged everything that dance music had been up to that point. Albums like Sheet One (1993), Musik (1994), and Consumed (1998) are canonical works that continue to influence producers worldwide. In 1998, Hawtin launched M-nus Records, and in 2016 he founded PLAYdifferently, a technology company that produced the MODEL 1 mixer — now a standard in the world’s top clubs.
Dubfire — born Ali Shirazinia in Washington D.C. of Iranian heritage — built his early career alongside Sharam Tayebi as Deep Dish, one of the most celebrated progressive house duos of the 1990s and 2000s. Deep Dish won a Grammy Award in 2002 for their remix of Dido’s “Thank You,” and their remix of De’Lacy’s “Hideaway” (1995) remains a classic of the era. After Deep Dish dissolved, Dubfire emerged as a formidable solo presence in techno, his sound darkening and hardening into a driving, industrial style that is unmistakably his own. According to Resident Advisor, Dubfire has been one of the most consistent and respected headliners on the global techno circuit for over a decade, performing at Berghain, Fabric, Time Warp, and every major techno event worldwide.
The venue — 150 NW 73rd St in Miami — hosts the intimate Lion’s Den, a space that perfectly suits the focused, cerebral energy these two artists bring to a room. Unlike the massive production of clubs like E11even or LIV, this is a listening experience for dedicated techno fans. Support comes from Magda, one of techno’s most respected selectors, while Satoshi Tomiie plays a special set in the Lion’s Den upstairs. Tickets are available via Shotgun — this event will attract a discerning crowd, so secure your place early. HeatTheVibe has your full MMW guide covered.
